With years of teaching guitar, mandolin and banjo plus the singing which goes so well alongside, I have met and played with so many fine musicians from around Melton and Rutland. Groups have formed and dissolved, styles of music have changed and it's all been great fun.

From this wide group of musicians we can now offer your venue two groups each of whom specialise in a style of music.

The Irish Session Band.

We play and sing a wide range of folk songs and tunes from Ireland, Scotland England and the US. We have old favourites from The Dubliners, The Pogues, American Oldtime bands and loads more. We mix up the songs with jigs and reels to stimulate general merriment. The music is always changing but runs from The Wild Rover to Jesse James, from Whiskey in the Jar to Dirty Old Town.  Just scroll down for a selection of what we play or for the full set list click Here

The Country, Blues, Rock and Rags Band

In this Band we run from The Eagles and Johnny Cash, through BB King, Bob Dylan, Blind Blake, Simon and Garfunkel and back round to The Beatles. We just chase up the very best music from the US and over here  from 1920 to yesterday.  It's unplugged, plugged in mellow music for atmosphere and chat. If you love your music head banging loud, don't call us.  The set will change depending on the players so tell us your preference and we'll put the right band together. The set list, which changes all the time looks like this Click Here

So This is the Deal

Our prices are seriously keen, starting at just £100.00. This will depend on distance, date and the event.

Contact James at james@jamesjoyceband.com or on  07858 479465

Like the name says this is a session band. We play for coffee houses, village halls, private parties and pubs. Our music is laid back, swinging and mellow ( far as you can get from an ear bending disco). The band will range from a three piece to a bigger piece, it all depends on who is about and ready to play. This set up is so popular in the States where a core band will have lots of other players who can't commit to regular gigging but who know the music and love to sit in when they can. So you could hire a three piece and get seven.

The Small Print

Our players range in age from quite young (and gifted) to considerably older (and worn). So check with us about age restrictions before you ask us for a pub gig.

We carry full PA and ancillary gear and everything we do is covered by insurance.

Everything we do is subject to signed contract and agreed terms.

No particular player can be guaranteed to appear and the songs on the set list are a guide only, no song is definite.
